In today’s era, the spoken word has immeasurable power. Nothing else is more influential than directly directed sentences. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is the result of other people’s thinking. So, with a pinch of excitement and a dash of enthusiasm, unleash your opinion and let the world know what you think!
Clash of Words –English Debate
“Debates are always better than arguments, because an argument is to find out who is right, and a debate is to find out what is right.” This is your opportunity to highlight your oratory skills and emerge as a champion. Allow your voice to be heard above all, and your vistas to be the reason for your victory.
Rules
- All debates will be in English language only.
- Participants will have to share their speeches for both the motions by 5th December and the shortlisted candidates will be in the final round.
- The topic will be shared by 4th December 2024.
- The Final Round will be held on 7th December 2024
- The motion will be decided on the spot by chit-system
- Participants will not be allowed to read any written content.
- The time limit of the speeches must be strictly adhered to.
- Rebutting and Interjection will follow each speech for two minutes, and it will be moderated by a Chairperson/Jury.
- Violation of any rule, using slang, etc. will lead to disqualification from subsequent rounds
- In case of any dispute, the decision of the judges/ faculty or coordinators will be final.
Format of the debate for the Final round:
Speaker Debater 1: For the motion – 2 minutes
Debater 2: Against the motion 2 minutes
Debater 1: For: Rebuttal and conclusion 1.5 minutes
Debater 2: Against: Rebuttal and conclusion 1.5 minutes
